Auditions

Auditions for Second Hurricane (Youth Opera)
Auditions will be open for registration for the 2017 Youth Opera Second Hurricane on Monday 24 April. Interested singers between 13 – 25 years are eligible to apply.
The rehearsal period will run in the September school holidays (Saturday 23 September 2017 – Thursday 5 October 2017) with performances on the 6, 7, 8, 14 and 15 of October 2017.
About the program
In a storm-ravaged American town, a group of high school students offer their help to a nearby county before becoming stranded in the wake of a second hurricane. Through trial and tribulation, the teenagers must learn to work together if they’re going to survive. The opera will be directed by Victorian Opera Developing Artist Alastair Clark, with Angus Grant as Musical Director. Copland’s youth opera tells an important parable of the reaffirmation of community through surviving the darkness of disaster.
Auditionees will be considered for both principal and ensemble roles, and if successful, will work with experienced professionals from Victorian Opera during the two week production period.
