Victorian Opera's 'La Sonnambula' is the first Australian Production Streamed via Opera Platform

After captivating Melbourne audiences and receiving rave reviews, Victorian Opera’s concert of Bellini’s La Sonnambula is the first Australian production to be streamed, available free and on demand, via The Opera Platform. 





 

Victorian Opera Announces Royal Opera House Co-Production 

Victorian Opera announces a co-production with The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The new opera, Coraline by acclaimed British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage will be adapted from Neil Gaiman’s popular children’s novella; also the basis for the 2009 Oscar-nominated animated film. The production will be staged in 2018 at the Barbican Theatre, London, ahead of appearing in Victorian Opera’s 2019 season.

Hear the Forest Come Alive in 'Cunning Little Vixen'

The forest comes alive in Victorian Opera’s new production of Leoš Janáček’s Cunning Little Vixen. One of the great masterpieces of early twentieth century music, this rarely-heard opera will be staged for five performances only at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse from 22 June – 1 July.

'The Princess and the Pea' reimagined in Australian Premiere

Courtesan, Conqueror, Meow Meow

Victorian Opera wins Melbourne Award

Victorian Opera received the City of Melbourne’s highest honour with a 2016 Melbourne Award for Contribution to Profile by a Corporation. Lord Mayor Robert Doyle expressed, “Congratulations to Victorian Opera on their 2016 Melbourne Award for Contribution to Profile by a Corporation.” He continued, acknowledging that “Victorian Opera is a vital part of what makes Melbourne the arts and culture capital of Australia.”
